The patient is a 63-year-old male who presented from an opioid detoxification facility after he was found to be tachycardic. He was started on a relatively unique opiate detoxification regimen, which included ibogaine. On physical exam in the emergency department, however, he was bradycardic, but otherwise asymptomatic. Shortly after arrival, he developed torsade de pointes. This case discusses drug-induced torsades, as well as detailed discussion of ibogaine.
