Abstract

This paper presents concepts and approaches to build models and systems for the management of High Value Socio-technical networks.A justification of the social networking perspective as applied to business organizations is made, focusing on methods andthe oretical approaches. Then, it is speculated how social networking can be a paradigm for the management of networks ofbusiness organizations. The management of relationships (fostering collaboration and cooperation) and their support throughnew information system architectures are the key issues. Socio-technical networks are analyzed from this point of view, andfocusing on the aspects of coordination and collaboration. Some research directions using the networking paradigm are discussed,focusing on the modeling tools for inter-organizational systems analysis and implementation.
