Abstract

As circuit-based switching is efficient to transmit bulk datasets in data intensive applications, we proposed a middleware for hybrid switching networks. The middleware and our hybrid switching network interconnect distributed computational communities and satisfy the demands of various transmissions. The measurements on the ION test-bed and simulations show that the middleware supports traditional transmission functionalities and is efficient to transmit bulk datasets. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.
