Abstract

The development processes of bioethics and public health in Brazil took place in parallel until, at a certain time, they began to correlate, because of common themes that came together such as the issues of healthcare equity and the right to health. The aim of this study was to analyze interfaces between bioethics and public health from the scientific production within the field o public health and its relationship with stricto sensu postgraduate training in this field. Twentythree papers published between 2007 and 2009 in journals within the field of public health in Brazil, in which the authors were closely connected with postgraduate programs within this field, were analyzed. Some predominating bioethics trends could be seen, such as protection bioethics and intervention bioethics. The interfaces between bioethics and public health were expressed similarly, with the capacity for direct dialogue between them, since both of them prioritize individual and collective wellbeing.
