Abstract

The weight increases of nylon-6,6 and glass-filled nylon-6,6 after 120 days exposure at 100% and 43% relative humidities were measured. The resultant mechanical properties of nylons were evaluated. Moisture absorption was seen to affect several mechanical properties. Specifically, an increase in moisture absorption resulted in decreased modulus and tensile strength but increased impact strength and elongation. © 1995, Walter de Gruyter. All rights reserved.
