Abstract

Several tree transformation devices that are relevant in natural language processing are presented with a focus on the dependencies that they are able to capture. In many cases, the consideration of the dependencies alone can be used to provide a high-level explanation of the short-comings of tree transformation devices and allows surprising insights into their structure. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
