Abstract

A review is presented with 41 refs. with discussion on the Gorling-Levy adiabatic perturbation theory for the correlation energy, Ec[n], in a high-d. limit for finite systems with particular emphasis on the resultant expression in terms of Kohn-Sham orbitals for the second-order contribution Ec(2)[n]. The recent bounds and equalities of Ivanov et al. involving Ec(2)[n] and its functional deriv. are compared against the numerical results from functionals of Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof and Lee-Yang-Parr.
