Abstract

This paper presents a Comprehensive survey of multiport converters for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). HEV technology provides an effective solution for achieving higher fuel economy and better performances with reduced greenhouse gas emissions. HEVs are more popular due to their low carbon footprint and ease of integration with renewable energy with energy storage systems. Increasing the driving miles and flexible battery charging are the biggest challenges facing the HEV Technology. A literature review has been conducted to identify the different techniques for improving the driving miles and to achieve flexible charging capability. The most promising concept to give a proper solution for the challenges in HEV is the development of multiport converters. Many researchers are proposed different topologies of multiport converters and control strategies to improve the performance of the drive system. The high efficiency of conversion makes a multiport converter very attractive in HEVs. The survey emphasis energy storage devices, different motor configurations, multiport converter topologies and control strategies for the HEV propulsion system to improve the performance of the drive system.
