Abstract

The article presents the verification process of a new type of transverse of beam semi-trailer main frame, as an element of the process of developing a new structural design. The main goal of the research was to determine the possibility of using bent sheet metal profiles as the transverse beams in the curtain semi-trailer frame. For the needs of the research, a CAD model of a fragment of the frame was created, containing the tested structural solution. After the initial strength analysis, the next step was to perform a prototype, consistent with the previously created model and to conduct experimental tests on it. The results of the experiment were used to calibrate the calculation model. Further work was related to the iterative search for the optimal cross-longeron connection based on the results from numerical analyzes. Used methodology allowed to confirm that all key requirements were met by a new structural solution.
