Abstract

E-learning has been around for quite some time. There have been different implementations of e-learning in different learning and teaching contexts ranging from blended learning to fully online delivery. Learning language online has been a new experience to preparatory year students at the University of Dammam. They have been given access to Oxford University Press Online e-learning system that has a complete language course called (QSkills) online where students can fully study online or supplement that with their face to face instructions. However, there have been some issues in this implementation and some pedagogical and technical challenges. This paper highlights these issues and challenges and attempts to propose some practical solutions. The results showed some technical and pedagogical issues and challenges that should be addressed properly by the environment; yet, there was some positive feedback that should be capitalized on to facilitate more the learning process.
