The most important areas of study in Railway Engineering are the mechanics of rail-wheel contact, requiring both vast application expertise, diagnosis and the dependable analysis approach. In some specialized sources, the model used is 2D - model axisymmetric or a 3D - model using the poor mesh quality and the FEA boundary conditions is used with some approximations. In this paper is presented the simulation of contact between wheel and rail, the scenarios used different contact conditions using the Finite Element Method with the realistic 3D - solution.
