Abstract

This paper suggests a psychological approach to the problem of context management in intelligent software. The user’s motivational context is taken by the agent as its own motivational context. While traditional taskspecific context problems still must be dealt with, the agent can use its semiautonomous motivation to navigate these problems on the user’s behalf. An implementation strategy is suggested.
