Abstract

Chapter 3 introduces the most common tasks that routers do as services provided to their local networks. The first procedure discusses configuring the router as a DHCP server. Configuring the router as a DHCP client also comes handy when configuring the router as an access link router. This chapter also covers configuring NAT and PAT which are considered essential in IPv4 networks spread around the world. The chapter is then concluded with a simplified procedure of configuring inter-VLAN routing.
