Micro-lensing is discussed with special emphasis on the possibilities of determining the one-dimensional intrinsic luminosity profile and the effective transverse velocity of a lensed quasar (compact source). The luminosity profile can be determined from the light curve during a high amplification event (HAE), which occurs when the source crosses a critical curve (anti-caustic). The transverse velocity and the absolute size of the source can be determined from HAE light-curves by at least two observers some distance apart (⪆ 1 AU).
