Abstract

In our paper we discuss some of the problems of camera independent motion dection and propose the use of a qualitative method based on the projections of the optical flow. By applying several projections of the optical flow and using a voting mechanism we can increase the performance of motion detection: the F-measure, examined on 20 artificial and real-life test videos, was increased with about 10-25% in general compared to the average performance of individual projections. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
