Abstract

The central focus of this contribution is the discussion of the limited options available under Article 7 TEU mechanism. Especially the developments in Hungary have alerted the Union institutions and the Member States that the Union’s role in the protection of rule of law needs to be strengthened, and there are proposals on how to get this done. These proposals are assessed and analyzed.
