Abstract

In this paper we present results of finding a way to automatically equip a three-dimensional avatar with a model of a user's individual head. For the generation of the head model certain so-called face feature points must be extracted from a face picture of the user. A survey of several state-of-the-art techniques and the results of an approach for the extraction process are given for the points of the middle of each iris, the nasal wings and the mouth corners. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
