Abstract

The world of manufacturing of medicinal products is fascinating and very dynamic and gives many opportunities for career development. Right after graduation one can start working at a plant. It is the role of the quality assurance (QA) department to have quality oversight over the manufacturing activities and the support activities that impact the quality of the product. Within quality assurance, different disciplines offer opportunities for starters or young professionals. Roles for starters will typically aim on support activities, while responsibilities can increase rapidly with growing knowledge of the regulations and processes, and the development of new skills. The career options are large, which includes development within the same quality team, but it is also possible to switch from quality into an operational role, or into a role at health institutes, at regulatory authorities or agencies like the EMA and the FDA.
