Abstract

The genus Drypetes is revised for Australia. Four species are recognised, Drypetes acuminata P. I. Forst., sp. nov., D. deplanchei (Brongn. & Gris) Merr., D. iodoformis L.S.Sm.ex P.I. Forst, sp. nov. and D. vernicosa P.I.Forst., sp. nov. All species are described and illustrated and notes are provided on their distribution, habitat and conservation status. The name Cyclostemon subcubicus J.J. Sm. is lectotypified. The name Drypetes subcubica (J.J. Sm.) Pax & K.Hoffm. has been misapplied to the Australian taxon here named D. iodoformis.
