The skills in writing official letters of grade VI SD Negeri 2 Sukamaju, Indihiang District, Tasikmalaya City are still low. This happens because students lack practice so that students have difficulty writing official letters. This study aims to describe the improvement of formal letter writing skills and changes in student behavior after being given contextual learning from the components of the learning community. This research is a Classroom Action Research which is conducted in two cycles. The subjects in this study were all students of grade VI, totaling 30 people. The results showed that the students' skills in writing official letters had increased after learning with a contextual approach to the learning community components. The class average score on the pre-action test reached 67.63 and was in the moderate category. After the learning action was carried out in the first cycle, the students' average score increased to 77.1 and was included in the sufficient category. The average value in the first cycle has not met the determined assessment target, so it is necessary to carry out learning actions in cycle II. After the second cycle of learning action was carried out, the average score of the students' official letter writing test increased by 15.47. The class average score on the second cycle test reached 83.1 and had met the determined assessment target because it was in the good category. Based on these results the application of a contextual approach to the components of the learning society was able to improve students' official letter writing skills.
