Abstract

Intensive insulin therapy compared to conventional insulin therapy does not improve in-hospital mortality among patients treated with hydrocortisone for septic shock. The addition of fludrocortisone to hydrocortisone does not improve mortality in septic shock. Level of evidence: 1+ (RCT with a low risk of bias). © The Intensive Care Society 2010.
