According to the International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision (ICD-10) classification anxiety disorders are characterized by excessive or dysfunctional anxiety reactions. With the exception of separation anxiety disorder, anxiety is not limited to certain objects or situations, as is the case for phobias. Anxiety may be accompanied by less developed depressive or compulsive symptoms, as well as elements of phobic anxiety.
