Construction of phylogenetic trees from nucleotide or amino acid sequence data is one of the important areas of evolutionary genomics. We start from classification of tree-building methods, and various distance matrix methods and character-state methods are explained. Various softwares for tree and network constructions are mentioned and worked-out examples are presented.
