Abstract

This paper discusses the pragmatic aspects that affect the phraseological equivalence in the translation of the Eventive Specialized Phraseological Units (Eventive SPUs). These results were obtained from a descriptive analysis of data in a parallel Spanish > English corpus of semi-specialized texts in the area of renewable energies. The pragmatic parameters to analyze the phraseological equivalence were established to explain the phenomena observed in previous contrastive analyses at the morphosyntactic and semantic levels [13]. It was found that there were complex interrelations between these pragmatic parameters and the parameters set to analyze the phraseological equivalence at the morphosyntactic and semantic levels. It shows how communicative, usage, textual and discourse factors determine the syntactic and conceptual treatment of specialized phrasemes in translation.
