Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus and transmitted through the bite of the A. aegypti mosquito. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease whose transmission is very fast and can cause death in a short time. The aims of the study were to determine the types of secondary metabolites contained in walang leaf extract, to determine the LT50 (Lethal Time) of the ethanol extract of walang leaves which acts as a biolarvicidal against A. aegypti mosquitoes and to determine the concentration of the ethanol extract of walang leaves which acts as a biolarvicidal in A. aegypti. The extract was prepared by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. Tests carried out included phytochemical screening and biolarvicidal tests. Experimental biolarvicidal testing for 24 hours, 4 repetitions of 25 third instar larvae of A. aegypti mosquitoes was carried out in 5 treatment groups including negative control (Aquadest), walang leaf extract concentrations of 0,025%, 0,05%, 0,075% and 0,1% as well as a positive control (abate 1%). The results showed that walang leaf extract contains secondary metabolites including flavonoids, alkaloids, steroids and tannins. Walang leaf extract has a significant mortality effect on third instar larvae of A. aegypti mosquitoes with LC50 present at a concentration of 0.88% and LT50 at 56.8 hours. Walang leaf extract has the potential to be used as a biolarvicidal mosquito A. aegypti
