Reducing the impact of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) by strengthening the prevention of NCDs and the risk factors (FR) related to lifestyles in the Northern Dimension Partnership in Health and Social Well-being (NDPHS) Countries is the main goal of the activities carried out by the relevant expert group (EG) of the Partnership. To achieve this goal, the members of the NCD EG discuss and hold events for presentation of problems related to NCD in all policies and at all levels, and their prevention measures in the Partner countries, search for common interests, possibilities of funding and staffing for joint activities. The projects «Potential years of life lost due to premature deaths from NCD in population before the age of 70 years old and «For better health - practical implementation of HiAP in the municipalities for better health for all in the Baltic Sea Region» have created a framework for intersectoral cooperation and monitoring the effectiveness of NCD prevention measures. The creation and implementation of projects on health literacy and healthy ageing will enable the development and use of information, telecommunications and digital technologies to professional exchange with best practices and improve the health literacy of the population in the prevention and control of NCDs and their RF, reduce premature mortality from NCDS and preserve human capital in the NDPHS countries.
