Abstract

This chapter discusses the special situation in Germany with respect to the public plagiarism documentation done in the GuttenPlag and VroniPlag Wikis, as well as discussing the reactions of the universities to the uncomfortable revelations. Furthermore, Germany has a long tradition of plagiarism and plagiarism accusations, as will be demonstrated by a selection of historical cases of plagiarism. The chapter closes with a discussion of how dissertations are prepared in Germany today as this does differ from the situation in other countries.
