The relationship between mining activities and the environment has always been a warm issue so far. one of the parts concerned is the presence of water pollution caused by mining activities namely the problem of Acid Mine Drainage (AMD). This study aimed to predict the potential of AMD on coal clamp (floor and roof) in Salopuru, Barru regency of South Sulawesi. This test used XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) and Petrography (incision polish) method. The result of XRD and Petrography analysis showed that the presence of Sulfide minerals is one of the factors causing or triggering the acid properties contained in each sampel. On the floor layer, there are Pirit (FeS2) and Sphalerite (ZnS) minerals, while in the roof layer, there are Pirit (FeS2) and Chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) minerals. So the result indicated that the clamp rock of floor and roof layers could be categorized as PAF (Potentially Acid Forming).
