Abstract

This paper is devoted to the study of the behaviour of DES-type methods used as Wall-Modelled-Large-Eddy-Simulation (WMLES) and to the treatment of the eddy viscosity in the framework of turbulent inlet conditions. A new method named Stimulated Detached Eddy Simulation (SDES) based on a synthetic turbulence method including pseudo-eddy viscosity synthetization is proposed and assessed on a spatially developing boundary layer. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
