Abstract

(from the introduction) Educational psychology is much more than the simple application of already discovered psychological principles to educational systems. We believe it is its own discipline with its own goals, research agenda, and infrastructure. It has a unique history in academia and has been blessed with contributors of uncommon ability and foresight. This volume was designed (a) to provide a history of the many components that have made up educational psychology and (b) to present a series of reflections on the state of the discipline in the late 1980's.
