Abstract

The chapter presents the concepts and technology of virtual exhibitions, with a particular emphasis on the changes brought on by the current COVID-19 pandemic Modern information and communication technologies are used to promote a new paradigm for facilitating the access to cultural heritage collections, by implementing virtual exhibitions, in the form of web applications, accessible online, as well as native mobile applications for mobile devices. A practical example is presented. The resource-based view (RBV) concept is used to determine the strategic resources that cultural institutions can exploit to achieve sustainable competitive advantage.
