The distribution of larval Ammodytes marinus (Raitt) in the NorthSea was determined using data obtained from Continuous Plankton Recordstaken between 1948 and 1968. The data were divided into 7 subareas, the limits of each being determined from the frequency of larvaloccurrence along each Recorder route. This distribution was thenexamined in relation to hydrographical features. For each area andyear numbers of larvae per sample were calculated. The pattern ofannual fluctuations in abundance between the 7 subareas was examinedfor between-area trends or corrections with events in adult populationand recent hydrographic changes in the North Sea.
