Abstract

Over the last 3-5 years, corporate sustainability has become an integral part of companies' strategy, with many new initiatives developed to help companies embrace this important agenda. In spite of this, one thing has become apparent: Existing models fail to integrate sustainability into everyday business operations as well as businesses and external stakeholders might hope. Most corporate sustainability initiatives get benefit from little input - or enthusiasm - from those middle managers whose role it is to implement commercial or operational strategies. © 2006 Springer Berlin·Heidelberg.
