Abstract

Nowadays, document management is a challenging necessity, especially for businesses. A particularly difficult but essential document management task is that of email management within corporate mailing lists. This paper will show how information extraction, retrieval and integration can be combined to deliver a powerful software tool to extract information from such lists. While they will never replace humans, systems such as the one illustrated in this paper do help alleviate information overload. Moreover, they are important tools in organisational knowledge management, as they enable the discovery of important knowledge within and about an organisation.
