This paper presents an overview of the software tools developed in the framework of HIPERCOMBATS and MYSHANET projects. These are High Performance Computing and Networking (HPCN) projects funded by the European Commission in the frame of the CAPRI initiative and the Technology Transfer Nodes (TTN) initiative, respectively. These tools are aimed at helping the engineers in the complex task of designing new multi-body systems. The main objective of both projects has been the development of software tools that allow the designer performing parametric simulations on a non-dedicated network of heterogeneous computers. The simulations are performed concurrently by the parallel task manager module. Finally, an interactive postprocessor allows the users to have an easy access to the computed results. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 1999.
