Abstract

The presence of a systemic inflammatory response predicted cancer-specific (HR 2.55, 95% CI 1.22-5.32, P<0.05) and overall survival (HR 2.12, 95% CI 1.17-3.87, P<0.05), independent of Dukes stage, in patients who had undergone apparently curative surgery for colorectal cancer (n = 158). Deprivation predicted overall survival (HR 1.26, 95% CI 1.04-1.51, P<0.05) independent of Dukes stage. © 2003 Cancer Research UK.
