Laser hot wire cladding (LHWC) provides high deposition rates in laser- based melting processes by the assistance of an electrical preheating of the wire-shaped filler material. The higher deposition rates are enabled in most cases at the expenses of the quality compared to other cladding processes like powderbased laser metal deposition.
