This study aims to see whether there are misconceptions among elementary school teachers in Kabupaten Sumedang regarding their understanding of HOTS-based learning. This is a follow-up to the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka in West Java, Indonesia. The research method used was a survey of elementary school teachers in West Java. There were 172 samples of elementary school teachers, both boys and girls who filled out the survey, from Kabupaten Majalengka, Kabupaten Cirebon, Kabupaten Bogor, Kabupaten Tasikmalaya, Kota Bandung, Sumedang, Garut and other areas in West Java. The instrument used in the survey consisted of 10 questions with right, wrong, and doubtful answer choices, as well as 2 essay, which were filled in via the Google Form. The results of the study show that: 1) there are still elementary school teachers' misconceptions about their understanding of HOTS learning (54.7%); and 2) Elementary school teachers still experience misconceptions between their understanding of HOTS learning and their understanding of HOTS questions. The results of this study recommend the importance of holding seminars and workshops, how to introduce the concept of HOTS-based learning, as well as provide an understanding of the basic differences with the term HOTS questions, as a provision for implementing a Kurikulum Merdeka.
