Abstract

Organ confined and locally advanced prostate cancer can be treated by various surgical or radiooncological methods [1, 2]. In addition, nonsurgical treatment options such as focal MRI-based HIFU treatment and cryosurgery are becoming more popular although these methods are currently not guideline recommended due to small patient numbers and only short-term follow-up [1, 2]. For all local therapies, the type and the frequency of follow-up procedures depends on the local extent of the cancer and the potentially available treatment options.
