Abstract

Liquefaction is an important seismic hazard that has produced significant damage to the natural and built environments in past earthquakes. Although the phenomenon is quite complex, progress has been made in the evaluation and mitigation of liquefaction hazards. Nevertheless, it remains an active area of research as geotechnical engineers seek more reliable and economical ways to evaluate and mitigate those hazards.
