Abstract

Unconventional treatments are a group of diverse medical and healthcare practices arising from varying schools of thought, different cultures, and world regions. Often practiced in developing countries, these treatment modalities are heterogeneous, multicomponent (as in yoga), and often used along with other conventional treatments. Current evidence recommends these treatments as adjuvants rather than primary intervention strategy. Whether the evidence protocol suggested in modern psychiatric practice can be utilized in studying the unconventional treatment methods is yet to be answered.
