Abstract

In this chapter, sustainability is viewed from the perspective of ecological integrity, exploring ways it has impacted social well-being. The underlying assumption is that deepening dimensions of community will result in more sustainability as well as better social well-being. The chapter presents the idea that caring capital, where mutual caring enables social well-being, is instrumental to providing the structure for sustainably maintaining social well-being at the community level.
