Abstract

Polyanilinc films with incorporated WO 3 particles were prepared by electrolysis of aniline dissolved in aqueous HC1 solution in the presence of WO 3 suspensions. The resulting composite film showed electrochemical activities of both polyaniline and the incorporated WO 3 particles. The green color of the film obtained by oxidation at 0.6 V vs. saturated calomel electrode (SCE) was changed into yellow and blue by polarization at 0 and -0.6 V vs. SCE, respectively, due to reduction of polyaniline and the incorporated WO 3 . When the composite film was illuminated in electrolyte solutions containing methanol as an electron donor, polyaniline of the film was reduced by photogenerated electrons in the incorporated WO 3 particles. © 1992, The Electrochemical Society, Inc.
