Abstract

Semiotic-Conceptual Analysis (SCA) is a mathematical formalisation of semiotics which uses Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) as an underlying formal model of conceptual structures. Previously SCA had only been applied to formal languages. This paper discusses the applicability of SCA to natural languages using the example of the lexical field of “cooking” in English and Maori.
