Abstract

Chinese higher education is facing a serious crisis. Bilingual Education plays an important role in Chinese Higher Education Reform. This paper expound the background and essence of bilingual teaching and learning, then discusses the purposes of strategic objectives about the bilingual teaching in Chinese higher education, namely: cure ills of higher education and the promotion of higher education development; make China into the world, let the world understand China; the world personnel training, and promoting world harmony and progress. This paper suggests China should strive to develop bilingual teaching, and make higher education reform and development in the strategic core. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
