Abstract

Despite depicting only shadows, X-ray fluoroscopy is versatile and effective to guide endovascular interventions. We are developing real-time MRI catheter guidance to provide alternative soft tissue imaging with the expectation that it will enhance and expand the capabilities of catheter-based interventional procedures and avoid ionizing radiation exposure. To date using interventional cardiovascular MRI (iCMR), we have accomplished sophisticated catheter procedures in animals and rudimentary investigational procedures in humans.
