Abstract

The major relief features are explained in terms of large-scale geological structure and tectonic history; the depositional landforms are linked with past and present-day climates and the related geomorphic processes. The main divisions are shield desert; stony desert; riverine desert and clay plains; and sand desert. There is a section on desert lakes. -K.Clayton
