Abstract

The field of mental health promotion is evolving, although funding for such programs remains relatively scarce at a time when governments are struggling to maintain the quality of health care, due to rising costs and a rapidly aging population. Education at multiple levels can support the advancement and implementation of mental health promotion. This chapter includes a focus on the development of relevant training guidelines for health professionals, as well as specific issues related to medical, nursing, patient, school and public education.
