Abstract

The exceptional preservation of Ediacaran organisms is problematic, and the cause of the unique conservation is difficult to prove for fossil material because of restrictions imposed by the incomplete palaeontological record. Observation of the various preservation forms is particularly important and provides the basis for further reconstructions of organisms and the Precambrian community structure. © 2011 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
