Abstract

For learners including elementary, junior high school and high school students, acquiring an ability to solve various types of questions in every subject is one of the most important learning objectives. This study verified the effects of a highlighter on the process of information processing in solving questions. Marking with a highlighter pen, as a means of organizing information, can have effects on the improvement of academic performance by the visual effects as well as through marking works. Therefore, changes in the number of eye movements as well as visual fixation duration of learners were measured to verify the visual effects of marking with a highlighter pen.
